Surfsmile Carers Surf Club: Riding Waves and Making Progress

Surfsmile Carers Surf Club: Riding Waves and Making Progress!

What an incredible first three weeks it’s been for the Surfsmile Carers Surf Club here in beautiful Croyde, North Devon. We've faced tricky conditions, wild weather, and powerful waves, but above all, we've seen unbelievable progress, lots of smiles, and an unforgettable community spirit.

Week 1: Tricky Conditions, Solid Progress
We kicked off our surf adventure with some challenging conditions, waves that didn’t want to play fair and winds that made things even trickier. But that didn’t stop us! Everyone gave it their all, and we saw huge courage, determination, and the first signs of the amazing progress that was to come.

Week 2: Rain, Big Waves, Even Bigger Progress
The weather turned wet and wild, and the waves ramped up, but so did our amazing carers determination. Spirits stayed high, and the effort from everyone was next level. Despite the stormy surf, even more waves were caught, and the stoke was real!

Week 3: Sunshine and Serious Surfing at Croyde
We were finally blessed with some sunshine, but with it came strong cross shore winds. Did that stop the crew? Absolutely not. Week 3 saw massive progress across the board, with loads of waves ridden and loads of people standing up for the first time. Watching confidence grow and smiles get even bigger was a total joy.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the brilliant team at Surf South West, and to our phenomenal instructors Evie Pernet and Andy Hawker. Your patience, encouragement, and stoke are what make this experience so special.

And finally, the biggest shoutout of all goes to the incredible carers who joined us: Nick, Phoebe, Chloe, Michelle, Jen, Hazel, and Fin, you are all absolute legends. Thank you for your energy, laughter, and support. You’re the heart of this surf club.

We’re just getting started , bring on the next wave!
